I AM A PH.D CANDIDATE STUDYING RHETORIC & WRITING AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN. MY RESEARCH IS SITUATED IN CULTURAL RHETORICS, WOMEN’S RHETORICS, AND LITERACY STUDIES. MY DISSERTATION USES ARCHIVAL AND PRIMARY RESEARCH METHODS TO INVESTIGATE HOW INCARCERATED MOTHERS USE WRITING TO RESIST NORMATIVITY AND PERFORM MOTHERHOOD WHILE SERVING TIME BEHIND BARS.
